The four stages of the men's cut, inside 30 minutes

The men's cut at Monfrecola Concept takes 30 minutes because it has four stages and none of them is skipped: consultation, wash, cut, finish and styling.

The consultation comes before the scissors. We look at how the hair grows at the nape, where the crown sits, how much time you have in the morning to sort your hair out. Then the wash, which is not a courtesy ritual: it softens the hair, takes out yesterday's product and puts it in the state where it can be worked.

The cut is scissors and clipper, with the outlines done at the end, once the shape is decided. Finish and styling do two things: check the result on a dry head, when the hair has gone back to its natural fall, and show you how much product you actually need to redo it at home. A cut that only works on the way out of the salon is a cut left half finished.

Long hair: 45 minutes, because the cut is built on the length

Long hair takes 45 minutes and costs CHF 65.– because the cut is built on the length, not on the outlines.

On a short cut the shape comes from the edges and the fade. On long hair it comes from structure, layering and fall: how the hair sits once it is dry, where weight has to come out so it does not swell, how it moves when you turn your head. We work in smaller sections and check the result several times, because half a centimetre wrong in the layers stays there for months.

It is not a men's cut with a free quarter of an hour added. It is different work, which is why it has its own line on the price list and its own duration. The extra fifteen minutes are the margin to check the fall before cutting again, not to go slower.
